概要 Exercise training for the older adults is known to be effective in improving health and fitness and in preventing the need for prevention of long-term frailty. In particular, water exercise is less stressful on the joints of the lower limbs during exercise than land exercise, and even people with orthopedic disabilities can safely and effectively perform exercise. However, the effects of long-term water exercise training over several years on skeletal muscle mass in the older adults have not been clarified. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of practicing water exercise (water walking and aquatic dancing) over a period of approximately three years, in comparison to land exercise. The study also sought to determine the effects of one year of detraining with covid-19 disasters, which began at the end of the training period.
