概要	This presentation aims to illustrate Kafu Nagai’s impressions of the United States through what he wrote in his collection of stories, American Stories, and his diary Extracts from a Diary of Western Travels. During the period from 1903 to 1907, he stayed in Seattle, Tacoma, Chicago, St Louis, Kalamazoo, Washington D. C. and New York. His writings are influenced by his unique literary values based on his admiration for France and French literature and his dream of visiting Paris one day.
