This paper examines the contemporary Japanese art practice known as the “Clapping Club” (クラッピングクラブ), in which participants suddenly begin clapping their hands in public urban spaces, generating surprise, uncertainty, and affective disturbance among bystanders. Situating the practice within both Western postmodern performance theory and the Japanese avant-garde lineage, this article argues that the Clapping Club represents a micro-political redistribution of perception in late-capitalist urban life. Drawing on Allan Kaprow’s Happenings, Nicolas Bourriaud’s relational aesthetics, Jacques Rancière’s politics of aesthetics, assemblage theory, Judith Butler’s performativity, and the critical theories of spectacle and simulation, alongside the practices of the Gutai Art Association and Hi-Red Center, this paper proposes that the Clapping Club exemplifies a distinctly postmodern and post-avant-garde intervention. Through minimal gesture and collective sound, it destabilizes ordinary perception and reveals the fragile constructedness of public reality. 概要： 本論文は、参加者が都市の公共空間において突然手を叩き始める日本の現代アート実践「クラッピングクラブ（拍手クラブ）」を理論的に検討する。一見、目的不明な他者の拍手の行為は、通行人に驚きや不確実性、感情的な動揺を生み出す。本稿は、この実践を西洋のポストモダン・パフォーマンス理論と日本の前衛芸術の系譜の双方の中に位置付けながら、拍手クラブが後期資本主義の都市生活における知覚のミクロ政治的な再配分を体現していると論じる。アラン・カプローのハプニング、ニコラ・ブリオーの関係性の美学、ジャック・ランシエールの美学の政治、アセンブラージュ理論、ジュディス・バトラーのパフォーマティヴィティ、さらにスペクタクルとシミュレーションの批判理論や共同幻想、そして具体美術協会やハイレッド・センターの実践を参照しながら、本稿は拍手クラブがポストモダン的かつポスト前衛的なアート的介入の一例であることを示す。最小限のジェスチャーである集団的な拍手を通じて、この実践は日常的な知覚を揺さぶり、公共的現実がいかに脆弱に構築されたものであるかを自覚化する作用を持つものである。
